It is boring to sit still on a chair. So many of us need to move and enjoy wobbling on a chair back and forth. Only this way we make sure the glued joints at the corners of our chairs will eventually move apart or break.
When you decide to fix a chair, where the wood has moved apart, one has to get to the bones of the frame. Strip off all the fabric and inside material of the chair. Afterward, take all the joints with a rubber hammer apart and then clean the in-and outside of the joints until there is not old glue to be found. Now you can put new glue on (i.e. bone glue) and fix the legs back together with clamps. Make sure to work on a leveled surface and that the distance from the legs is correct. With a damp cloth clean around the joint and let dry for 24 hours. Only then you can rebuild the filling and upholstery material.
